Yesterday was the 4th of July, which is independence day (independence from Great Britain in 1776). I watched the fireworks from my hotel room in Evanston, which has a pretty nice view over the Chicago skyline. I didn't want to risk being stuck downtown after the fireworks, because about 1 million people have to leave the city after that... :D
